The entire T&T assembly on my 79 150 is in bad shape (corrosion, leaks). Can I swap the entire assembly out for a newer assembly easily?

Thanks

Re: 1979 Trim and Tilt Replacement

The 79 version had a three wire motor which required a relay box with a solenoid mounted underneath the splashwell in the boat. In mid 81 they changed to a two wire motor which required a different box with two relays. By 1983 these boxes mounted on the top of the engine's exhaust cover, under the cowling. These later exhaust covers have special holes for mounting these electrical boxes. While I think many of the crossflow trim units are interchangeable between the clamp brackets, a newer unit will require some electrical reconfigurations.

Look into a CMC TT, finding an OEM TT that works and putting it on the motor can be a real pain, the CMC is on in an hour or so, comes with a warranty and will work for years and years.

I have had one on my boat for 5-6 years and have never had any problems at all, iboats has probably the best price for it.

Don't bother with the gauge as you will never look at it.
