Re: 1979 Welcraft Suncruiser 255

this is getting interesting...big cabin without the enclosed head, you could practically add a berth and some storage in that area

Exactly. Its going to be a table, but thought about adding drawers or cubby holes. Maybe even a nice little wet bar with a bottle rack! Hmm??? I am also going to outfit the cabin with LED strips. The windows in the cabin are a real PIA, the molding is all cracked or broken (inside and out). Not quite sure how to fix it yet, replacements are more than I want to spend.

My bro's plan for his suncruiser is to do those windows in tinted lexan, mounted frameless outside the hull. A little shaping and polishing of the edges, it might look really good

Anyone have a good advice on how to go about replacing the missing fresh onboard water pump and tank? Are they on a pressure switch?

It is the support for the rear seat. The brace even has the hull number stamped into it. I have been top to bottom of that boat inside and out with a mallet, screwriver, and sight no permeated glass or soft spots at all. The boat is solid,

Finally had a chance to see if I could get her started. This is the first time I put fuel to her. Sounds good and idles smooth. I know someone is gonna scream 'impeller!' Well I have to change it anyways, don't know how long it has been in there.

After changing out the impeller, and checking out the bellows and gimbal bearing I suggest a shake down cruise before spending too muck time on interior work and imeron paint. Have you tried wet sanding the old clear coat off? You may have the possibility of restoring thg gel coat. they were pretty thick in the 70's good luck.

Re: 1979 Welcraft Suncruiser 255

The lake here is down to levels I can get the boat in safely. Wont be back up until March. New bellows are here. Just waiting on me. I have learned my lesson on shakedown passes before I really trusted the boat. There is some electrical stuff i need to clean up and much more to do before I feel she is even worthy of floating. Bildge pump works good tho, washed the bildge out. Trailer needs bearing maintenance, the foot needs lube change, trim tab hydraulics need bled. Shore power needs to be checked. Yes a long list on top of painting in march, I am set on painting, there is some dock rash I need to mend.

Completed 3 of the 5 pieces for the V birth. All in all going well, now that I have the feel for the sewing machine!

Any progress,,,, I am considering purchasing a 78 Sun Yaht. It looks the same as yours except it has the flybridge. It's really in good condition, but needs the normal interior stuff.
