1980 50 hp evenscrewed

the question is... when i turn the engine over by hand using the flywheel, it feels like it is rubbing on the stator. is this normal? how do i correct this?

pull the flywheel and investigate. are you having a problem?

my throttle advance seems sticky, doesn't return to fast.

what i did was take some wd 40 and sprayed it under the flywheel. then work the throttle. mine freed up.

You may be having two problems

A sticky timer plate

AND

a magnet coming loose inside the flywheel

Take Tashasdaddy's advise, pull the flywheel and investigate, before that loose magnet kills your stator
