Hey, I just bought a Bass boat from my father-in-law that has sat for the last 3 years. Seriel # 5751612. He said all was fine the last time he ran it. Got it to start but it has no pee stream after it starts. I am running it with muffs to make sure all is good before I take it to the lake to try it out. Does it have to run long enough for the thermostat to open or am I looking at doing the water pump? I have cleaned the dobber mud out of the telltale hole and left the hose off of fitting and you can feel a slight pressure coming out of the fitting on the lower unit but no water. Thanks guys Mark

If it has thermostats, yes,it will take 30sec. or so to start flowing. If your supply water is cold,it may not have a solid stream at idle, but should be spitting good.Check to make sure water is flowing out the end of the prop.Should be cloudy looking. After saying that,YES,youre looking at doing the waterpump(impeller at minimum)regardless of whether it "pees" or not.Sitting 3 yrs makes it mandatory. After you get going, the rule of thumb is every 2 yrs, impeller and every 4 yrs. rebuild waterpump,AT MINIMUM.It is good practice to just do impeller every spring when you fire up for the season. You can easily do yourself w/a good OEM service manual and about 15min. time.A $25 impeller change can save A LOT of headache later on.

Thanks for the reply! I guess it would be better to do the waterpump now and know what I have. Now I need to find a factory manual for this motor. I bought a Seloc for the 2000 60 hp bigfoots on our houseboat and it is to vague. Covers to many different motors. I would prefer a factory one for this because I sense I may be doing more to this one. Thanks Mark
