1980 90HP Merc IL6 Pissing out the head?

I *FINALLY* got it running today! Had to keep it on full choke, but she turned over... had her on muffs.<br /><br />1 min after idling, a steady stream of water started coming out of a pipe fitting on the head, between the 3rd and 4th spark plug... looks like it is a pipe fitting meant for a hose. But the telltale hole seems to be hooked up to a pipe fitting in the top of the head.. <br /><br />Weird eh? I almost shat myself when i saw a liquid squirting out of the back of the head.<br /><br />What is this? Where should it go?

Could that be a fitting for a water pressure gauge?

Have no idea, but the telltale isnt pissing. <br /><br />I'll run out and take a picture now.

That fitting and the casting it's in looks like it's screwed into where the take-off for a water pressure gauge is on my 50hp 4cyl. <br /><br />Is your telltale blocked at the top of the engine and do you get a water stream from the telltale if you stick your finger over the hole in the fitting where the water's coming out? Mine got blocked and Laddies suggested backflushing it with a hosepipe-cleared it out nicely.

Nope... it just stops. i took the hose off where the telltale water comes out. it dribbles water when running for a minute. but the other spout pours warm water out.<br /><br />Dunno whats going on...

sounds like your telltale is blocked or kinked-try blowing down it to see if there's an obstruction. Should be easy to blow down.
