I have a 1980 blackmax 175 and I'm not getting any spark on #1 and #2 cylinders. Switch boxes are new, compression is 120# on all cylinders, sparkplugs are new. Can I test the coils? Could this be a stator or trigger problem? My initial ohm readings for the stator and trigger came back within acceptable limits but I'm not a professional so a margin for error does exist! Any ideas on what to check and how would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

switch the wires around on the switchbox stator/trigger side and see if the problem moves to the other cylinders - if so bad switchbox if not test coils and retest the stator and trigger but using a dva meter with the motor running - dvom wont work for this test you might not be getting enough output from either trigger or stator .

The only thing common to 1 and 2 ignition is the trigger remove the trigger leads for 1 and 2 from the switch box and OHM test them you will probably find a open in the winding
