Ok question about the transom. from what I have measured since it was a total loss and cant trace, it looks like at the tallest point it was 19.75 inches tall and 60.5 inches at the widest. for thickness it looks like it was 2-3 pieces sandwiched together in a "T" shape with the top of the being 6 inches across and the base of the "T" 18 inches wide. and 1.5 inches thick. the rest of the transom was only .5 inches thick.

My thoughts were 1 sheet of .75 inch marine grade plywood, making the 1.5 inches for the "T" and increasing the rest of the transom to .75 inches. To me the .5 inch part seems kind of thin compared to what I have read about most other transom restores. Going larger than 1.5 inches would interfere with the splashwell so I will keep that where it is.

Please excuse my poor MS paint representation. I still have to figure the angles and the actual shape of the transom, this is only a rough drawing to show the "T"

OUCH!! just priced Marine grade plywood @ Home depot.... $79.98 per 4x8x3/4 sheet snd the closest location in stock is 95.10 miles away

You don't need to use marine grade. I think some of the experts have said to use acx. It's an outdoor style of plywood that is glued with water proof glue. It's ruff on one side and smooth on the other. Wood on glass would be able to tell you exactly what to use. It's a lot cheaper too

Yes I have been looking at some of the different plywoods from other posts something called MDO I think. Not much cheaper here 64.99 per sheet for 3/4 inch @ Menards, and 69.99 for marine grade. Since the price is so close which ever is best.

Ur flying into it - only way to go! Thats a cool little boat - personally love the chrysler outboards, have had a 75hp and a 140hp, both were bulletproof and fast

I had to lol a bit with the pallet floor that was in it :lol:

The pallet floor was definitely funny. I should have taken pictures of the weeds growing out of the stringers to go along with it! In fact I used a shop vac to suck up off the wood "mud" from the stringers and dumped it in a few flower pots. I am going to see what I can make grow in the pots next spring with only the old boat wood in it, maybe some nice flowers or something.

Just stripped all the gauges, lights, cleats and other trim stuff off the top cap. Steering wheel is being stubborn and I and worried about breaking it, going to boil some of the plastic pieces to see about restoring some luster to them, cant do anything about the stuff that's too brittle but should be able to get some stuff to shine like new again maybe.

Please close topic. The boat project suffered a bad winter and the boat had to be scrapped. Just bought a another boat that was more complete and will be fishing it in a few days. Thanks for all the help and insight. I will open a new topic with the new boat.
