I am in the process of installing a reman powerhead on tis. I dropped the lower on it to change the water pump and noticed the water tube iscrimped about 1in up also the end is misshaped should the water tube be changed? how do you do this, the clymer doesnt even mention it. also the exhaust thing behind the water pump what is this? the orange gasket is torn and they had put some duct tape on it I guess I need a new one but I dont know what to call it. could water tube be the reason it had broken -stuck rings on#1 and 3

If the end of the water tube is bent where it goes into the water pump housing, it may not seal and you would risk not getting good waterflow to the motor. If you're changing the powerhead anyway, when you pull the old one off, I believe the water tube has a flare on the upper end that gets sort of clamped between the powerhead and the exhaust housing, and you should be able to pull it up out of the exhaust housing. When you order the new water tube, get that exhaust gasket at the same time. It just seals the exhaust passage between the intermdiate housing and the gearcase.

I had a hard time finding the exhaust housing gaskets for my 175...looked them up on BRP site and found them at Dixie Marine in Miami...Good prices and super fast ship..
