1980 evinrude

My 1980 evinrude motor will run slow but when i give it power, it bogs down and cuts off. I have made sure that the gas tank is vinalated but i did notice that the builb on the gas line is flat and it will not let me prime the gas line, until i unhook it from the motor and the gas tank. Can anyone help me with this problem

The fuel pick up tube in the tank has a screen that sometimes gets gummed up. Also make sure the arrow on the bulb is pointed to the motor.

Welcome....... If it still won't work right, those bulbs have a one way valve in them that sometimes gets bad. In that case you will need a new bulb.

Sometimes it helps to know what hp engine are we talking about here a 9.9 or a 235?
