If it clicks, it should crank. Check voltage at the starter while it is clicked. 12V voltage present, starter not running = bad starter. No or very low voltage present, bat cables, or connections, or battery.

Try jumping the second small post on the solenoid to ground, then attempt to start (post used for the safety switch).

If solenoid clicks the safety switch is good.----Inspect starter.----Get battery load tested.

It clicks...if i touch jumper cable to the solenoid post between the starter and solenoid it turns the starter but nothing with the button...14.4 volts on batt.

selenoids are just electrical magnets... aside from the large posts to feed battery +12 the starter the inner coil needs a ground (direct or via safety devices to protect you) and... +12v from the start key position.... so your diagram is OK

if the new selenoid does not "click" it is missing a ground , or... a +12V from the key or the new selenoid inner coil is open ... you can test it for continuity with a ohmmeter and should see a low resistance value . if not it is open...junk

I get 002 or 003 on the 3/8 posts and a 1 on the left side of screen on multimeter....im getting 14 volts when i test the post that the batt. Connects to on solenoid and use ground on block...it was hooked up like the diagram and all was well....same now but not all is well haha....hmmmmm

What do you mean with 002 and 003 ???-----These are not electrical terms that mean anything to folks here.

Recommend a continuity tester that allows you to pierce the covering on a wire (simple type with a clip on one end and a spike on the other end. Uses a flashlight battery and a couple AA or 3A batteries). Is your solenoid a marine solenoid or automotive (cf. #12, above).

?? is that meter on 1000v scale...? use 20
put one probe on grd and one on the red starter post turn key to START
do you see 10-12v on the starter bat . post yes .. no ?

if yes... starter should turn if contact surfaces are clean and battery is good
if yes... and starter does not turn possible faulty starter or bad starter grounding

if no... selenoid not transferring +12v to starter cable or bad connections or bad cable

if no... Battery side selenoid post missing batt. +12v or bad connection or bad cable from the batt. .... assuming battery is good to start with

Sorry-----But this is another example of why I try to refrain from giving advice on simple 12 volt parts and circuits.----It can be frustrating.------002 and 003 mean nothing !!
