my motor runs really well under throttle and starts fine when cold, but after it warms up it wont idle very good and then it dies and wont start again until it sits for a while and cools down a bit. my question is if it could be vapor locking and if so can it possibly be from the fuel pump being wore out and needing rebuilt

Usually a fuel pump either works or it doesn't. Possible you are losing spark to one or more plugs. Weak ignition components tend to fail once the engine heats up to normal operating temps. Take a timing light with you next time you go boating. Next time the engine starts to act up, remove the cowling. Check each spark plug wire for strong spark with the timing light.
