Hey guys,

I tore apart the lower unit of my motor tonight to replace my impeller. Found that the driveshaft seal has failed and is in need of replacement. To me it seems that it was installed upsidedown. Should the new one be flipped over or is it correct the way it is? I've always seen seals to be the other way with the spring on the oil side. IMG-1525.jpg

Looks correct to me.----You are aware that the parts book show 2 seals there and they are mounted back to back.---So the other one would have the spring thingy to the oil side.

agree -- two seals. You might do a pressure test on the gearcase while you have it apart, just to see if and where it is leaking.
