1980 Johnson 35 hp (bigger **** hole)? please advise.

I've got a 1980 Johnson 35 hp on my 13' Whaler. Can I get some feedback about the pro's and con's of a larger diameter on the end of the **** hole? One doctor told me that it needs to be small for back pressure, I'm not convinced so I'm looking for a 2nd,3rd,4th,etc... opinion. I'd like to make it wide for more flow.

leave it as it is. it was designed that way. if you enlarge it you are taking water away from the cooling system. the tale tell only tells you that the impeller/water pump is working. it does not tell you that the tstats are opening, and cooling the motor.
