Looks like you had a great time. Boat looks great.

All your boat needs now is a bow mount trolling motor.

There you go, it just doesn't get any better than that, Dad taking the boys fishing.

Agreed!

That is a very fancy board to lay fish on,...

Looks like a great day,...............

Makes em taste better off the grill!

Fist Bump

I was thinking about your Sea Nymph project, yur getting close buddy, not too much longer now...

Excellent job dude!!!!! I've been checking back cause I figured the Tittabawassee River was full. So what do you like about the boat? Other than it looks straight pimp. How does it fish?

Jas, I need a couple of those SN decals. Where can I get them?

The boat is awesome, real functional all around. Couple things...

When we pulled into the launch (witch was totally under water just two days prior), mud everywhere. So carpet snapped out, and thrown in the truck, great! (even though I managed to drop one of the hatch pieces face down in the wet nasty stuff, dummy)

The big port side hatch was perfect for cold weather gear to get stowed when the sun came out, big, easy to reach.

Fish box was awesome.

Just a couple of days ago I was able to figure out a way to move my trailer guide on's back further from where they were (in front of the tires). They were flared out way too wide when I mounted them there, so, I basically took a heat gun to the PVC to soften em up and bent em in to hug the boat (if that makes any sense). I'm really glad I was able to get that set. The launch yesterday was a mess, mud, deep, fast water, no dock and my boys are still too little to help so solo launching. Without those guide ons I'd have been in trouble.

We trolled the whole day so I basically stood right between the consoles and steered with my left hand watching the rods. Very comfortable setup, I could just lean forward and check the FF.

The Berts Tracks and rod holders were sweet!

The Evinrude trolled awesome. Though, I'd like to slow it down just a smidge. I was able to maintain about 1.0 - 1.7 ok against the strong current. I'd have liked too have been just one little click less than that so I might be thinking a 4 blade prop or trolling plate or something.

Overall the boat was just the right size for that river with just the right amount of space on board for 3 guys and the Chinese fire drill when Ry hollared "FISH ON!!!!!"

Here's where I get all my decals from, great guys to work with, excellent prices!

Excellent fishing report.......

Bar has been set

Similar report expected in the 'morrow.........

Only reason to do it ^^^^ right up there, making great memories.......

Now, please
Ppass the fish n chips ..:hungry:

Ugh, I ate so much fish, sooooo good!

Yah, honestly, the river fishing is kinda short lived. I may not get more than another 1 or 2 shots at the spring run before they move out to the Bay. Once they are out there the Islander would no doubt be a more comfortable ride, so, I need to get at it!

I dunno why, I just kinda prefer the stern mount eh.

Killer job on the fish, good work!

Thanks man. Some days, boat building can be a drag, yesterday was not one of those days!

ur kids rock

u made it happen

Ha! I loved the shirt that Ryan picked out for our trip, ARRRRRRRRRGGHGHHHHHH! Kid cracks me up!

Great job Jas. Boat looks really nice and is super functional. One more question, how long are you going to keep her?

For slowing down have a look at the "trolling bags" from Amish Outfitters,..

Trolling Bags

They are well made and should last a long long time,.......They also work very well as a drift sock,...

I run them one on each side of my boat off of my front cleats,...slows the boat down and keeps the bow from swinging in the wind,...

How do they work in quick river current?

I'm thinking they would be completely full of debris in a heartbeat yesterday. With all the flooding there was so much junk floating through. Every couple minutes I had to reel up and pull junk of the crank baits and reset.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Never tried them in heavy current,.....

In heavy current I either slip the current going downstream using a bow mount or transom mount electric to jig,...

Or,.......

Troll into the current going upstream,...

Remember your GPS speed is worthless trolling into current,....You need a paddle wheel to watch the currents speed in the water,..

In heavy current the water will work you cranks while your sitting still, So you can go very very slow according to the gps and your cranks are running just fine,...

That's probably clear as mud,....

Trying to get out the door to work, If you have any questions I'll have to get to it latter,...

Jas,

What part of the Tibb did you get them? I launched from Gordenville at about 6:30 last night and was only out for less than 2 hours. I only got one walleye jigging off the bottom near the Gordenville bridge. Maybe I will try trolling next. i heard they are getting some trolling on the Tibb upstream of the Tridge.

Yah, my electric TM is just for positioning and following the current.

I couldn't get the main engine to troll down any more, it was just bumped in gear. I really only needed just barely a click less in that current (which was pretty fast). A normal flow I prolly would have been too fast.

If I know I'm trolling for the day (exclusively) I could always pull off the electric Minn Kota and throw the Evinrude 15 Tiller on eh.

Or, I spose I could swap out the prop for something a little smaller. That might be the quickest/easiest approach.

I was mainly below the Center Street launch. I didn't see very many guys trolling, most were jigging, some were casting. Trolling really served me well! We would have easily limited out had I got just a little earlier start to the day.

We launched out of Gordenville Sunday morning and jigged. We were only out for about an hour, didn't get anything but other guys were bringing fish in.

Awesome trip! Walleye aren't the easiest fish to catch either, they do take some skill.

Hey Jas - This isn't boat building, my man. This is using the boat YOU built for just what YOU built it for! :D

So did you and the boys come down with another case of Slime Flu today?

10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish. I can assure you man, I am not in that 10%!

Though, every dog has his day:D

Yah, we are all "healthy". Though I had a hard time convincing Ryan he was feeling so good that he could make it to school today.

Truth be told Ethan and Ryan's teachers were really excited that I took the boys out. They wanted photos of the trip. They are cool, I think they know education happens outside that classroom too:thumb:
