Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

I wanted plenty of KoolAid carrying options just in case a glasser guy comes aboard!:D

Nah man, you have kids, you know how it is, they come with stuff buddy! And snacks, and legos, and whatever else. Shoot my bride has all sort of stuff too!;)

I know all to well, hence why I was asking about vinyl floor the other day. Probably going carpet though, not near the choices in vinyl over 72" wide.

The tinnie mini van. Does the driver get a cup holder? Always looking out for everyone else. They look good. Hope you didn't hurt the prop! Be careful, man.

Those cup holders are nice. I've got a few myself that I haven't installed yet. I was thinking about putting one up in the very front area where the trolling motor is bolted.

We used to install these with drain lines to keep them from draining into storage compartments. (Drain lines were just 3/8 clear tubing with zip ties for "clamps")

On my hatch covers, nope, no latch on those lifting rings. I was watching my hatch covers on my last outing and I think I only noticed one of them bouncing just a little. Stuff like that bugs me so I'll keep an eye on em and if need be I'll install some sort of catch or something, ya know.

I like the magnetic catches, easy to adjust and last a long time. If they are too firm just put a paper clip on it and they open real easy.

Looking good Jason. This boat just keeps getting better and nicer by the day.
As far as your latest shop accident goes, maybe if you had one of these in the shop, you would work a little safer ...

:D

For the record, I buy bandaids by the case, I generally cut myself at least once a day.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Speaking of busted...

So I'm reaching way up high on the shelf to pull down a box, forgot that I put my spare prop on top. Yup, busted my head right open, I was kinda laughing at myself cuz I'm so dumb and cryin cuz it hurt so bad:rolleyes::D

I had the same thing happen to me, but it managed to miss me and hit the cement, breaking the tip off a blade...

I would of taken a hit on the head instead of a broken prop, but only thing worse would of been a hit on the head and a broken prop ;)

I like your jig head, rubber minnow, stinger hook, plier, minnow gut, harness blade, bead holders! At least that is what it would turn into in my boat. Can you pull them out to get the stuff off the bottom so your not trying to get a bead out of the hole with a pair of needle nose?

Yah, carpet definitely has it's drawbacks but for this fish/ski rig I think snap in carpet is the way to go;)

Yah, I'm thinking about adding a shelf under both of the consoles. I'm thinking I'll sink another cup holder into that shelf for the captains coffee:D

Yah, my head just has a big gash in it, no biggie. But look at my prop!!!!

I think I trashed it:facepalm:

Kidding, kidding. Though it is pretty beat up. Salvageable? I dunno. I know that won't bend back, it'll just break off. Kinda a big chunk. Ah well, fine for a spare anyway.

We used to install these with drain lines to keep them from draining into storage compartments. (Drain lines were just 3/8 clear tubing with zip ties for "clamps")

Yah, that's a nice feature, great for keeping those glassers from getting all rotted out;)

Yup, that's kinda what I was athinking. We'll see if they rattle on the next few outings.

if you had one of these in the shop[/IMG]

Blood, sweat and tears baby!

Yah Gib, agreed!

Nope, they are in there. So shop vac, pliers to get junk out eh.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

OK, so not long ago I snatched up a handfull of these SS grab handles el cheepo on eBay...
P1090558.jpg

I installed a pair at the bow gunwales for my passengers just in case we hit a rogue wave wrong...
P1090560.jpg

I leaned up against the cushions and grabbed hold to check em out, nice! No flyin otta the boat now!

I noticed my passengers at the port side seat were wanting to grab the windshield while we are underway. So I wanted to give them something to grab on to as well...
P1090563.jpg

I went back and forth trying to decide to center that, install on the gunwale, or sink it in off center to the right. As you can see I chose the latter. Something about it just seemed to fit right, ya know.

I like how there is some polished SS and brushed alum on both consoles, kinda complements each other some eh.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

I had just barely enough time for some upholstery work too. I needed a piece at the bow here so I installed a pair of alum angles...
P1090565.jpg

I dropped off a couple of my upholstery pieces off at my local embroidery shop and...
P1090566.jpg

Oooooo, preeeeedy....

Piece of ply, sealed up, sunk some bolts, added PL so they wouldn't spin on me at install, fat foam, stapled on the vinyl...

(those wrinkles on the ends don't look all that bad in person eh)

While it gives that bow section great rigidity it's main purpose is just eye candy:D

Careful use of a hair dryer may shrink those wrinkles out..... Careful not to scorch the vinyl or toast the Admiral's hair dryer. You decide which is the higher purpose. Even more careful use of a heat gun, might do it quicker....

Else, all the progress since my last swing thru looks great. Nicely done.

Now buy those wimps some 1/2 wet suits & get to some tubing this weekend with this fish & SKI dual purpose rig :D

Nice....How much did something like that cost?

One thing I'd like to do is have some removable deck pads made so the wife can lay up there and get some sun and I'll just fish from the back when she does. (see a compromise-she gets removable deck cushions I get to add a transom trolling motor LOL.

Well, I got a whole bunch of stuff done, upholstery, embroidered... I think all the pieces, plus embroidery, set up fee = couple hundred bux. (couple pieces yet to be posted up here). Well worth it I think:cool:

I've put in a few "Best Offers" I thought no way they'd go for but sure enough:D

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

OK, so I am thinking about my list of stuff to do hmmmm, not much!

Stuff to do before the Maiden Voyage

1. Give her a name

2. Give her a bath

Stuff to do before I can take her to some big water

1. Install trolling motor mount and trolling motor

Stuff to do before I can call this project complete

1. Build and install the stern bench/deck

2. Snap In carpet

Nope, not much at all!:D
