Hey there, trying to catch up on the threads and keeping getting lost with your jumping around, lol. Sorry about the hand, know about though. Got my hand with a sanding wheel on my grinder when I was working on my house boat way long ago. Going to keeping catching up with your work, and the tinny boys can look forward to progress finally be made on my Starcraft. And yes I'm drifting to other side with another thread started with my, dare I say it, fiberglass deck boat. It's been a crazy 18 months or so with me, looking forward to being back on here. Good luck with the islander and the other ventures.

Hello my friend and welcome back.. You were missed around these parts. I finally had to a chance to take in the pics from something other than my phone and I'm a bit speechless...

Truly fantastic job! I hope this boat brings you and your family a lot of joy and good memories - starting this weekend.

Quite the feat you've accomplished. To make a 33 year old boat look better than it did when new. Outstanding work on the SN!

Totally awesome! Just finished (3 days? worth) reading this whole thread. I am astounded. I have a 1982 SN CC-171 Bay Striper with 75 that is bare bones right now with a transom the same as you had and a 1984 Grumman 16? SC (running/fishing but in need of a refresh) that looks very similar to your SN, and now have about a thousand things running through my mind. Sleep has become very tough, mind in overdrive. I have a 70 on my 16 and hit 32-34 WOT depending on fuel and load and man that feels fast! Your thread has really helped make up my mind on the 171 though, the 75 will be put to the side and the 115 will be coming off me old Mako and going on my SN when the time comes!

Again AWESOME build and documentation! Thanks!

Jason, I am late to the party as usual and just finished watching your video about the overheating issue. First, the SN looks super. Next, I hope your roadtrip is uneventful and HHI is every bit as enjoyable as you hope. A suggestion since your planned stay in SC is two weeks, swing down to Savannah one day and up to Charleston another day so you can take in the full measure of the South. Lots of historical stuff in both places. Finally, in your video I noticed your motor has the low outlet on the exhaust cover for telltale water. While you do have the high loop on the hose to help eliminate air bubbles, the OMC V-4's from the early 80's suffered from chronic overheating problems. The link below is a thread from the FAQ's that discusses the issue and describes mods that will help. Good luck!

Hey Jas,
Glad to see the Sea Nymph finished and glad you weren't down here this week. (Cold snap came through though it might have still been pleasant for y'all.) The dog woods and azeleas went to blooming right before the cold snap hit so the world should smell incredible by the time y'all get down as the warm up should be in effect by Good Friday. Have a marvelous and blessed Easter. Oh and plus one on the side trips to Charleston and Savannah. The open air market in Charleston is awesome and River st. in Savannah is loads of fun.

holy carp batman![/B just spent since Sunday catching up on your thread man. :whoo::party::dance::high5: have you considered making your hobby a business?! That is a great looking boat, it's better then new. You couldn't buy a new boat setup that way for under 50k. I AM COMPLETELY JAZZED ABOUT THE FINISHED PRODUCT you better not sell this one or at least ask 20k for it, lol. Getting jazzed up again to start on my projects. And yes I will try to to keep both of my threads updated, that ought to be a bloody riot. Get back to the ole girl, she's been neglected. Been a cold winter on her. I will check on that thread for progress, cheers man, and great job again on the sn

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Hey fellas, thanks a bunch for the kind words, appreciated! Overall I'm very happy with how the rig turned out. I think (I hope) this Sea Nymph will make for a good ski boat and a good fishing boat, that's what I was after anyway. I no doubt had to make some compromises along the way in order to make it comfortable for both activities, but, it's all good.

Little bit of a bummer to share...

We had some $$ issues pop up. I'll spare the details but it started with the resort down in SC notifying us that no boats/PWC's/trailers/campers/etc. are allowed on the property (which means I had to slip the boat, $$). It ended with me dropping a large chunk of dough into the truck to get er road ready for the trip. Few other $$ items mixed in between too.

So, we had to shave a few days off our vacation, we leave tomorrow instead of yesterday. Also, the SN will be staying in MI.

I already threw my temper tantrum hairy fit so I'm actually ok and over it now.

It's all good, I'm still packing a few rods and we may grab a charter boat for a day or something. No prob.

More than anything, I'm excited to just hang out and have fun with my family:joyous:

From here, Walleye season opens in a few weeks and we have a camping/fishing trip on the calendar for late May to chase some early season pike:fish2: Headed to Yooperland for that:becky:

So, I do owe you guys some actual "finished" photos and I'll take those next time I get her out in the sun.

Hey, I do hope you all have a fantastic Easter and God Bless!

I end up paying a pretty penny to park my boat trailer for the week when we go to Ocean City, MD because you can't park a trailer on the street anywhere or on most properties.
