To start off this is a great site, yall have helped me solve some problems in the past, the latest problem started about a year ago when my dad traded his one owner pontoon for a 19ft center console. When we first talked to the guy about trading the boat had a newer 150 evinrude. After a couple of conversations the guy told us that he had a better motor to put on the boat for us. After about a week or so the trade happened and I wasnt a able to go with my dad to pick up the boat ( im military and was on leave when we found the boat, then had to head back to work before the trade) When they made the trade the guy had his mechanic look over my dads pontoon and it checked out great (less than 200 hours) and they took both boats to the river and ran them, needless to say my dad got the center console. When I was down in december we took the boat to georgetown sc to do some fishing, the boat did great on the way out to the gettys but when we went to try and start it their was a ungodly noise and after inspection we noticed that two of the three bolts were pulled out of the block. After some struggling and a few choice words we got it started and got it back home to a mechanic friend of ours, and he said that the threads were shot and they were rigged to work for a few times. So fast forward six months, my dad passed away in april and I inherited the boat, after fresh gas and oil mix we took it out for the 4th of july and I noticed it was a bit sluggish to get on plane, and once it was on plane it ran excellent. After about an hour of riding around and tubing the motor started to run really rough and lost all power and died. After finally getting home and pulling the plugs and realizing it has two different kinds of plugs in it, I got 4 new plugs and took it back out with another 15p prop. (it had a 19p on it) it was a pita to start and once started it didnt have any power and idles rough as hell. After I got it to stay running we tried to take it out and it would rev up but would not open all the way up, and after about 5 mins it acted like the prop blew out, or the motor popped into neutral. Then didnt do it again, we was on the water for about 15 or 20 mins. After getting back to the dock another boater pulled up and said it looked like it was starving for gas. So I stopped by picked up two rebuild kits and just got done going over the carbs with a fine tooth comb. Somebody please help me. We only have about two more weeks before we go to hawaii and the boat sits for three years...im going to try it out tomorrow, ill let yall know how it goes...oh and ive spent about 1200 fixing what that idiot screwed us over on. (block drilled and tapped, new starter, carb rebuilt kits, gear oil, and other misc parts)
