1981 150 Mercury - what's it worth?

I've got an old rotten bass boat with a good 1981 150 Merc on it that I'm trying to help my daughter salvage some money from. Since the transom and paint on the boat are bad, I figure the main item of value is the motor, the trouble is, I don't really know what to ask for a motor this old. It is all functional, has a good stainless prop, and runs like a spotted ape. Any suggestions?

$2,000 on the west coast, $2,000 in Florida. with all the saltwater dunk used motors in Louisianna, easy $2,000 if it's clean and runs. of course control go with the motor. advertise it with free boat & trailer. that way you don't have to pay the dump fee.

Blue book says $300-500. But everyone knows its worth more.
