It doesn't get anymore exact than that! Keep that pie hole afloat! Oh, I went went with the blue foam board.
Pool noodle math. One blue pool noodle with hole will float my 300 lb butt and a 12oz lager just enough to keep my pie hole above water for beverage intake.

I thought I read somewhere the newer starcrafts with pour in foam are having corrosion problems.
I left the original foam and added board foam, but not 100% sure that was a good idea. The foam traps some water in the crevices then the area under the floor is moist.
Earlier this summer I cut a access hole in my floor in the cabin to air out under neath the boat also the check for corrosion.

I have had trouble with alum corroding where something is against it that traps the salt.
I question if the foam is going to do the same thing.
Also I really ? if the foam will actually keep the boat from sinking. If I had some spare time I would do the calculations or if I ever tear my floor up again I will calculate and see if the foam has caused any corrosion spots. The original foam did not but the boat showed no signs of ever being used in salt water. Now after 15 to 20 weeks of salt water use over the last 5 years she is showing signs of salt water use. Hand rail has already corroded through where the clamp was installed.

I used the 2 Lb pour foam from US Composits on my 22' Islander. It is Coast Guard approved for gas contact. I bought one 10 gallon kit and ran out a little more than half way done so I bought another 10 gallon kit (it was cheaper to get the 10 gallon kit than two 4 gallon kits.) and have between 3 and 4 gallons left over.

I did it before I put the floor in. I poured it and let it harden then used a long hand saw and cut it off flush with the tops of the stringers and used the cut off in the bottom of the voids and poured back over them. When I got it done there are no voids in it like the factory stuff had. Now that I've had it in the water for two years, used multiple times in 2-4 footers and larger waves, the boat has way less flex and a more solid feel to it. I can run it faster in the rough stuff and not feel like I'm beating the crap out of it.

Interesting that's it's more rigid. How much was the 10 gallon kit? Any pictures of the install? Thanks for sharing this, I'm now leaning towards pour in foam. I'm in freshwater so corrosion doesn't scare me as much.

Edit: I just read $360 for the pour in kit. I'm now leaning towards Homedepot sheet foam.:p

No I don't have any pictures of the install. I did take some of the whole process with my phone, but when I went to load them on the computer, it reformated the memory stick and I lost all of my pics.

I went with the pink sheet foam from HD and I think in total it was about 80 bucks and that was for the 22 footer.

I have the distinct feeling that was even cheaper than pool noodles :p

In doing my research I have learned that Us composites is the worst place to buy your foam from. It is a good quality product but the quantity is much less then others in a 10 gallon kit. Mertons claims that there 10 gallon kit contains all 5 gallons of part A and all 5 gallons of part B. Mertons also does not package there kits in buckets like most manufactures use, they used customized containers that hold the correct amount of fluid. I would hate to buy a 10 gallon kit and only get 8.5 gallons...............

Just an FYI to all that care.

I thought a few people have said that the pour in foam is bad for the Hull in tinnies so you may want to double check this.

I bought mine from US com. It came in 5 seperate gallon jugs of part A and a five gallon bucket of part B. They were all full to the top when I opened them up. I don't know where you got your info, but I got everything that was advertised and paid for, if not they would have made it right.

I called three different companies about their products and everyone of them mentioned US comp. on how they don't fill there containers full and so forth. They all scared me away, so I went with Mertons. We shall see what happens............

All this foam talk has got me worried about my new 221. And it hasn't even been in the water yet!

Ricohman---take a tip from US Customs at the border: bore a test hole and see what comes out on the drill bit. or pull the center section of floor in the cabin (just fit in there loose on my boat) and look in there with a flashlight

it's Decision Time for me on this, as i now have my floorboards cut n epoxied and ready to go back in. i bought three sheets of foam (good thing it warn't a windy day in EL Paso or i would have been three sheets to the wind....) BUT am thinking along the same lines as Bwana Don....line the side areas with saran wrap, then pour it in. i have 2 gallons now and will let y'all know what results i get.
