1981 50 Hp - Kill Switch Issue

I was pulling my hair out with intermittent Spark/no spark issues. I had spares so I replaced the trigger, stator, coils, and finally the switch box. And I was getting no spark whatsoever. I then had a thought it might be the kill switch function. I disconnected the black/yell wire on the switch box and BOOM superstrong spark and fired right up. Of course with this off the key won't turn it off so I need to fix it. I have isolated the problem to inside the engine because it is the same issue with two different controls.

Any thoughts on finding/fixing the issue or a work around?

Thanks,
Tim

UPDATE[/b]

I think I have it figured out...it is the Mercury Switch connection. I disconnected the black/yell to it and we have spark with the other one connected to switch box.
It is now fixed... I replaced the switch with one I had from a donor motor.

Also don't forget about my other issue with RPM not returning to idle speed after I throttle it up manually with throttle arm.

Problem #2:

I have it idling pretty good and adjusted the maximum advance timing, secondary pickup, full throttle stop screw adjustment etc.

Problem is ....when it is idling nicely and I manually advance the throttle to rev the engine it does not return to idle immediately..I have to adjust the idle stop screw again to bring the throttle arm back past correct idle and it eventually slows down and before too slow I manually bring it back to where it should be.

What's with this delay in returning to idle? I thought it was the trigger wiring getting in the way but when I cut the snap tie and made sure it was out of the way it still does it.

Now can I just tie this off and leave it off?
