was on the lake this weekend and went to start the motor when all i heard was a loud grinding noise and the motor did not turn over very well.lifted the hood cover and discovered the gear that is on the top of the starter was ground up pretty good and would not grab the flywheel well enough to start the motor.the starter and bendix work fine.can i easily just replace the worn out top gear?do i have to take the starter off for such a repair?and lastly what is the little gear called?
on the bright side of things i took off the shoe laces for my work boots and discovered i still have what it takes to pull start a small v-4
