1981 Bayliner Runaway Drain Plug question

I just picked up this little guy (below) and noticed it had a regular drain plug in the transom pan area, and another - what looks like a drain plug at the bottom rear of the boat, right at the bottom center. Thing is, a normal drain plug doesn't fit in there (the hole is smaller), it has plastic threads in it, almost like a plastic bolt or something should go in it. Any idea what it is, and where I'd score something to put in there? Just go to a hardware store and find a plastic bolt or cap of some kind?

Clean looking boat you have there.

A photo showing this drain hole affair might help you determine what it is.

A bait pump intake comes to mind but you need a more definate answer when your dealing with holes below the waterline that are unplugged.

Edit: sorry Admiral...you beat me to it.

A photo of the stern would tell us more than the photo of the bow. ;)

That was the only picture I had of the little beast so far; I'll bop out to the garage and see if I can snap a decent one of the rear.

It's a clean little boat, that's for sure. Solid floor, no stress cracks inside the bow lounging area. The console plastic is a little sun-dried (as well as the padded glove compartment door), but no serious issues. The only thing it needed was a new battery. I live right on a lake (just moved here last year), so the next step is getting a dock into my shore line. Until then -- public landing :-/

I'll bop out to the garage now.

OK, here's some more pics.

Here's the transom drain, which a normal drain plug fits.

Here's the mystery plug. It's smaller than a normal drain plug, and threaded (it's right behind the motor's prop and plane:

Here's some other pics of the boat as I walked around, for the heck of it:

Ayuh,... My Guess is, the hull drain takes a 1/2" Pipe Plug...
Go with Brass, or I suppose plastic would work......

That bottom mystery hole is just like the drain plug on my boat (well, what used to be)

Yeah, that's the main plug for the boat. You could probably (and I have, but not trying to start an argument) leave that plug at the top of the transom out, so that if a little wave comes over the transom after coming off a plain or somthing the water will drain out.

As for the main plug below, never run without that one!!:D Or (to steal a quote from someone else somewhere on the forum) you'll be "gone in sixty seconds!".

I'd buy a new brass drain plug for that. They come the same way as the plastic, square bolt head, and just screw right into it. It should be on your checkoff sheet before you go boating #1. Ensure plug is in the bottome #2...

You can get that practically anywhere they sell boat stuff. (I believe even as simple as Walmart).

Thanks, gang - I've a hardware store just a few blocks away, I'll pick up a 1/2" brass drain plug for it. I figured it was the bilge drain hole; but was stumped as to why a normal drain plug didn't fit.

I won't leave the transom drain plug in; this tiny little guy has a 70HP on it, I plan on getting all kinds of wet with this thing. :)

Certainly, I'll go take a picture of mine and post it - give me a few mins to run out there. My boat is only a 15 footer, so I don't know if it's capacity ratings will match yours (in looking at your pics, yours seems bigger).

Be right back with a pic or two.

SnowHunter - I noticed your boat has rails on the inside wall like mine does, too. What the heck are they used for? I see they've got plastic screws that let it slide along. Is it for some sort of tie-down or roof tarp thing?

I have no idea what they'd be for.

Honestly, I have NO clue  I would be interested in figuring out what they're for...I'm trying to get some information through Bayliner Customer Service on the boat, since there's none to be found on the 'net.

I don't plan on reinstalling em, though.

Those slides are where a bimini of sorts USED to attach... You could adjust the top/bimini by sliding them back/forth.
