Earlier today I laid out templates on 10 oz fabric and cut what I needed to add one more layer to the inside of the sump, and laminated it all in.
Then I added a layer of 10 oz top the bottom side of the sole that will be over the sump. The original wood was just primed. I pie-cut the glass in the deck plate hole and wrapped it inward. I laid thin plastic (grocery bag) over the glass and placed the piece that was cut out back in the hole (wrapped in a rag to add thickness) to hold the glass in place while it cures. The tolerances are tight for the deck plate, so I want to make sure the wrapping is nice and tight.
After some lawn mowing, gwpjr and I began to lay out the forward stringers:
He was scribing the profile of the hull in the pic above. Then they got cut and smoothed with the disk sander:
And rounded over the top edge with the router:
These stringers are over 7 feet long. The forward three feet of them curve inward, so we created kerfs nearly half the thickness of the material every 3" along the curved portion.
