Hi. Long time. Hope you folks are well.
I am working on a 1981 Evinrude E70ELCIM which seems to have a fuel flow control issue. It will not start. Compression is good (120+). Spark looks like its there, although a timing light after dusk will be the final judge.
Until then, When the engine turns over the carbs drip fuel. Bad. So, I removed them and went in for the inspection. During removal, I notice fuel coming out of the air silencer to manifold hose, the little hose down in the bottom from crankcase to silencer. Does that make, sense? Liquid from this hose into the black plastic silencer box?
As I'm finishing up with the middle carburetor, I find this spring lying in the work space. I did not notice it or see it fall from anywhere.
So, I look up the parts diagram. I do not see this spring listed.
Can anyone identify it and tell me where it goes? Or perhaps, the parts diagram panel I am missing.
My guess is that it is a choke return spring for the electric choke, but, I cannot see how it installs.
Thank you,
J

This spring holds the choke butter flapper OPEN at full throttle .----Keeps them from fluttering and wearing out the shaft.----Someone else can likely post a picture for you,

I think I found it in the parts diagram. Listed in the intake manifold section.
Do we happen to know if it is part number 0314807?
Looking at the contour of the part in the diagram, I can tell the one I have has been modified for expressly improved performance.
Thanks again,
J
p.s., if anyone has a picture of the spring installed, I would appreciate a peek

Not sure what your looking at but I found it in the carburetor section. It goes on the middle carb. I'm sure if you look close enough to the middle carb you will be able to deduce how it goes on. Spring ends will rest on the carb body and shaft area.
