Hi Am ready to put the motor back together and the manual say's nothing about red lock tight on the crankcase bolts. Should you ?? how about on everything else ?? Also are the gaskets good enough or should I be using a spray as well

Thanks for the help

Blue maybe. Stay away from the red if you ever want to rebuild it a second time.

Totally unnecessary if you torque to recommended values. Gaskets are dry unless specified otherwise in the OEM shop manual, you have one, right?

the crancase should be sealed with an anerobic sealer- gel seal 2, loctite 518, or permatex 51813. Because of the high torque value no loctite is needed on the bolts

another anaerobic sealer you can get pretty easy is yamabond. from a motorcycle dealer.

Thanks all, I had put it all together and was hoping this would not be a problem.

Happy Boating all
