Is the carbs the only difference between a 150hp and a 200hp? I have the 150 and according to previous posts, it seems like all I have to do is change the carbs to ones from a 200 and have a 200hp. Is this true? My boat will hold up to a 175 and i'm looking for that extra push. I know that the 200 is rated at the engine and not at the prop so a 200 is really something like a 175. Thanks.

Not true, irdir.

All JohnnyRudes have been rated at the prop since 1985.

Yeah, but the engine is a 1981. It's before they started to rate hp at the prop. But is the rest of that statement true about the carbs? Thanks

yes, what you heard is absolutely true.

all you need is bigger carbs and your mmotor is a 200hp.

me and you are the only ones that know this secret , so keep it hush hush , will ya !?!

i once had a 9.9 evinrude and i put carbs on from a 48spl and had it on a dyno and it pushed a total of 36hp at 5400 rpm. wowsers

Actually the blocks are the same casting but the porting is different. The 150/175 crossflow has the same porting but the 200 crossflow is different. Some 150 XP/GT's had porting real close to the 200 cf and used different heads.

They use the same bore, stroke, pistons, rods, crank, ignition, intake manifold, reeds, exhaust manifold, midsection and gearcase including gear ratio. Walleyehed is experiminting with this concept as we speak.

All the 235, 2.6 liter 175 and 2.6 XP/GT blocks are different.

This is why foklks can be real disapointed when going from a 150 cf to a 200 cf. We've run 150's and 200 cf's on the Dusky and only see very minimal, is any, difference. Now, a 60* 150 looper is a whole different story!
