I have a fresh rebuilt 81' evinrude 235 that's missing recirculation hoses, also have a complete 84' evinrude 235 parts motor. The 81' 235 has 2 recirculation nipples on each bypass cover and the 84' 235 has no nipples on the bypass covers, can I swap the covers and eliminate the recirculation from bypass covers without having any issues ?

Thanks in advance for any help !

I would keep the '81 orginal as in '84 they came out with the vro's and changed the recirt and primer line routing on the '84.

Re: 1981 Evinrude 235 bypass covers

Ah ok thanks boobie, I was thinking I could just eliminate the bypass recirc, but by the looks of it I would also have to change the intake, it appears the '84 has the recirc on the intake only and the primer dumps into the carbs and reeds, where as the '81 uses the bypass cover for recirc and primer. Ok next question can I use the carbs ( fixed jet) and fuel pumps ( with vacuum switch) from the '84 and run the primer lines to just the carbs or just bypass or perhaps primer to both carbs and bypass together ?
