I have the the cylinder head off and I noticed that in the parts manual on the Cylinder & Crankcase page, item 10 is listed as DEFLECTOR, water passage part number 325911 which changes to 335603. The manual lists a quantity of 3. What exactly do these do and should I change them since I have the cylinder head off? Should I use something like Never-Seez on the head bolts?

the direct the water in the correct direction. it never hurts, especially if it ran hot.
bolts dry, and torqued, then retorque after several hour of running. while you are that far, good time to change tstat and poppet.

How far in do the deflectors go? What is the best way to install the deflectors? Does the lower cowling need to be removed in order to install the two lower deflrctors?
