1981 johnson 4.5 hp j5rc1c.
runs fine, recoil spring was broke. i have one on order and coming to me shortly.
my question, i'm looking at the exploded view diagrams online and one in a manual i have for earlier models. for the '81 model it shows a spring retaining clip (#13 part # 0321371)
well, this motor didn't have one. the older diagram i have is for 68-78 i think and it does not show the retaining spring listed.
i think i am also missing (#7 part # 0305380) roll pin for the assembly.
anyone tinker with these recoil starters that can give me some advice as to where and how to place the retaining clip if i even need one. and the roll pin, i need to double check to see if it is there or not.
