Hi All,

My steering is binding, I removed the link and its in the cable/rack assembly. I managed to get it loosened up with a ton of pb-blaster in both the rack end and the transom end of the cable, but, I want to replace it.

I have a 1981 MC1 Mercruiser 120 package with no Power assist for steering.

I am looking at the SeaStar kits, as I understand that my 1981 help gear won't match "modern" rack cable systems.

SeaStar lists the Safe-t and the back Rack, I think it is. Does anybody know which one I should use?

My current steering, I am able to let go of the wheel, and the boat will track straight, and I would like the new one to do that as well. Is that a "no Feedback" kit?

Thank you very much for the help, I didn't know if I should post this to Steering, or I/O forum.

If you dont apply some grease to the guide tube monthly, it will get tight from the corrosion
