1981 Mitchell Center Console Rebuild

Hi Guys/Gals -- I'm new to the forum but have been using iBoat's resources & information for a long time. I picked up a good deal (i think so) of craigslist for a project/restoration boat. It's a 1981 Mitchell 17ft Center Console with an '81 70hp 2-stroke Johnson outboard and trailer.

The hull will need some fiberglass and gel coat repair work and I will need to rebuild from the stringer & floor up. The trailer had a bunch of surface rust but I sanded and painted it last weekend.

The previous owner gave the typical story about the outboard; it started just fine a few years ago but the boat has just sat and needs some TLC. I'll post some preliminary/before pictures and will keep the thread updated as I make progress. Looking forward to your feedback and pointers. Thanks everyone and take care!!

Unfortunately Tom, you've chosen Photobucket for pix 3rd party hosting. If those pix are viable now, they wont be for long. I know the pix tutorial suggested 3rd party hosting, but it was written well before PB decided they didn't want to do 3rd party hosting any more.

Hi JBCurt, thanks for the heads up. What a shame with what PB is trying to pull....I will look into other options for hosting pictures. I tried to attach a picture directly but I get an iBoats message stating I do not have permission to add or remove attachments. Any clue why? Could it be b/c I'm still so new to the forum?

Thats the server message until you post 3 times. Did you get it after your third post?

Should be able to upload pix now. BUT, they need to be a max of 700KB to upload.

Unless you plan to pay for 3rd party hosting, I'd go ahead and assume that most (all?) currently free pix sites will eventually follow PBs lead and start charging, become cumbersome w/ ads or simply disappear one day. That happened once w/ a 3rd party hosting site many here used. Same as PB, no pre-warning, just a black hole on the internet that took down a lot of pix posted here.
