Re: 1982 115HP "Tower of Power" WOT problem

I was always told buy the guy I bought my boat from to never use a battery with less than 725 cca to start an ADI engine, said the same thing happend to him, where it will smoke the ingnition modules(switch boxes) and make it miss and sputter at WOT... dunno if that is true, but i went out and got a new 725 cca battery for the engine

Well I got my Stator and trigger in the mail on Wednesday, I installed them. I took my boat to the repair shop to have the Link and sync done. 100 dollars and 3 hours later I took my boat over to the lake and did a test run. Awesome!! it ran like a scalded dog. Thanks for all the help guys.

My 1983 115HP "Tower of Power" has a similar problem at WOT. What did the Stator and trigger end up costing you?

Hey NewYork dont ya just love the old Mercs. The trigger cost 122.00 and the Stator 131.00 I got them at this web site. Its the cheapest prices that I could find.

Yeah, I just got this boat and the motor has been one big headache...as I was working on the motor tonight I bent one of the switchbox wires and it crumbled in half and after further review I noticed that a couple other wires leading to the coils were corroded or broken as well. I think I will just splice some new wires in there tomorrow and cross my fingers that I don't have to buy a new Stator and wiring harnesses.
