My 1992 25 HP Evinrude E25ELCNE idles fine and runs at WOT for a while until it seems as is it is starving for fuel. If I pump the bulb, she jumps right back up to WOT for a while and repeat. Cleaned carb and replaced diaphram. When oredered the rebuild kit for the pump for the E25ELCNE, parts did not match up. Mechanic had to cross reference and find the right parts. I am guessing that the fuel pump may be for a smaller engine and is not big/strong enough for my 25. 6 months later this issue started happening after replacing agin. Fuel tank is approx 6 feet from engine and fuel hose, tank and bulb are brand new. Question;1.)could this be too long of a run, 2. Could the diaphram be faulty again 3. Any other troubleshooting ideas? Thanks in advance.

A good fuel pump should have no trouble moving fuel from the tank through a 6' fuel line. I would suggest to replace the entire pump with a new one. There are checkvalves and springs in the pump that could also be contributing to this problem.

I agree with Mckee - while rebuild kits for the fuel pumps are available, they're pretty tricky to actually rebuild.

Are you sure that none of the fuel lines or fittings inside the engine are leaking or sucking air?

Check for air intrusion and pump output.

Will check for leaks again and have gone ahead and ordered the right pump....just to be on the safe side. Thank you all.
