1982 35 Eivnrude

I have a 1982 35 evinrude that has been setting in my garage for over a year.I did start it early last year, and it did start,but I quickly shut it down. Motor had been setting for a while before I purchased boat. Just need to know if I should replace or change out anything before I tried to start it again.Thanks

I would change the water pump for sure....the rubber impellor is probally brittle....check the fuel lines if originals get new ones...if they are decaying inside the ethanol in the gas will accellerate it and you have worse problems....I also would take the carb apart and clean and blow it out and put a kit in it...make sure u wire the orfices also...change the lower end oil and check for water in it....

After you have done that,,see how it runs....I ave a 1983 35hp basically the same engine and runs like a champ....

PS I would also replace the plugs if they look carboned up
