First, thanks for all of the great threads - I have read many of them and they've given me the courage to sally forth. Keep the great info coming.

I bought a 1982 Saratoga Sunbridge 2550 (correction here - sorry, it's a Saratoga, not a Ciera) almost two years ago. It was in good shape for a boat its age but I wanted to "personalize" the boat, get some stuff done but was a little nervous. I finally jumped in and this is what I've accomplished so far:

Took out the old instrumentation and replaced the dashboard with leopard wood. Made an instrument panel to hold the stereo, VHF Radio and GPS and installed on top of the dash. (The after pic shows as an attachment below)

Took out the old carpet and put new carpet in the cabin and got the cushions in the cabin reupholstered with Sunbrella fabric. The headliner is still a weird 80s lime green with rust spots but that will have to wait for a while.

Up next:
New motor
Paint
Swim Platform
Cockpit upholstery
Non-skid deck paint

Re: 1982 Bayliner Siera Sunbridge 2550 Restoration

Swim platform update. After reading several posts and doing some homework, I decided to build my own platform. It's 44" x 94" - plenty of room for the whole crew at the lake. I drew the plans up and then made a plug out of MDF then primed and painted it. The mold release wax is going on today and tomorrow and then I'll cast the mold. I decided to make a reusable mold in case anyone would like a swim platform for a late 70s early to mid 80s Bayliner.

Once the mold is cast, I'll do the lay up for the new platform. Pics of the plug are below.Swim Platform Plug ready to mold (800x600).jpgSwim Platform Plug Started (800x600).jpg

Hi Pinwheel, just picked up the same boat as you with a rank interior and serious dock rash as well as mistreatment but still some life left. I was wondering if y wou might have some insight into what materials (such as adhesives) would be best ifi should have to gut the cabin. Any response would be appreciated.
