You might want to pull the bypass covers so that you can inspect the piston rings on that side although it is rare that two pistons would go bad at the same time.

You probably blew the cylinder head gasket from overheating the engine, so examine the cooling system carefully and check the water diverters while you have the cylinder head off.

Pictures of the cylinders will get a lot better advice if you can post them.

heads may need to be smoothed if they have any warping from overheat.

Turning the flywheel, run each piston down to the bottom. Check each cylinder wall for any sigh of scoring, wiped alauminum, plus check edge's of ports. If any question found here, remove by-pass import cover, and check piston walls. and rings.

Have to agree with the other posters. What is "Low Compression"
I should have caught that with my first reply.

Re: 1982 evinrude 115 low compression

I had a motor with more than a 10 psi diff in compression on two cylinders. the motor ran fine. Im not saying that it still produced rated power or didn't have other issues. Sometimes we look past the obvious, simple solutions. When you start learning more and more then you tend to over complicate the problem. Start with the basics you checked the compression, what about fuel and spark? Loss of power 9 out ot ten times is loss of fuel.
