Re: GW, 24' Project (WORK PICTURE UPDATED)
Thanks Bill for the look see. Gotta tell ya though that is one ugly turtle. Nice restoration on your two boats also! Texas/ NowTampa, FL Ron, USAF, Ret.
As you saw on the Blog, I started small with a Kayak in the spring of this year.
It was a long dormant desire to get back into boats on a budget, as someone overseas, living in a apartment, in the middle of a European city. We we are in our third boat now, and my girlfriend announced last night she decided when we get back to the States she wants an older Hatteras Yacht.
Something we can take out in all types of weather, summer and winter.
I am now trying to steer her interest in the direction of something like your GW.
She says we need two boats, something small and fast like a Donzi Sweet Sixteen, and something where we can relax in, and that will take on some of the rougher waters we would like to venture out in. Like Injun, mentioned in his post, she also wants an overnighter.
I have created a monster.
I think a GW, while not being a Hatteras, would offer a little shelter from the mid day heat, and the winter cold and rain, while at the same time being sea worthy.
I am looking forward to the progress photos.
Where were you located in Texas?
P.S. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and as a Turtle, I may not be the best looking creature in the water, but my mom loves me none the less.
