1982 Johnson 90HP V4 Outboard Prop Seal Questions

Good Day!

So my '82 90HP Johnson OB is leaking gearcase oil from the prop area. Checked it out externally for cracks and found none. When I emptied it out last fall for storage there was milky oil and water in lower unit, so I knew I had a leak issue coming into the spring. When I got the boat / OB out of storage and tipped it down after trailering home a decent amount of gear oil ran out... so I guess its time to get the prop seals replaced as a first fix attempt. Researching and looking to buy the props this morning I came across the following site and diagrams and ability to purchase, of course which led me to questions on which one is exactly correct (a couple different options...).

I am including the exact links I was looking at and would appreciate very much if someone could tell me which parts are the correct ones to buy or how to tell on my OB which ones are correct.

Parts Questions:

1. *** How do I know if I have a type O ?? ***

2. *** I "think" I need parts 67 and 63 but WHICH 67 (67 Is an oils seal at 1.1/4 inch OR 1.3/16 inch and there is a 2 piece or 1 piece...?? ***


Other questions:

1. Are these reasonable price's?

2. For special tools do I need just a slip hammer to get the parts out?

When I had to tear apart my lower unit I found the OMC factory service manual to be invaluable.

Take a look at www.shop2.evinrude.com . They've got all the diagrams, factory part numbers, and list prices.

Thanks! I ordered the oil retainers from them. Hopefully it is all I need. I guess I will find out for sure when I pull it apart. Ill update the thread as I am working on it.

Last question though : Slip Hammer to get the old oil retainers out?
