???----The plastic drive keys / bits last for 20 years or more.----Your motor is " special " I guess.----And perhaps your motor does not have a 1982 lower unit.----And there may have been 2 different plastic keys.----Some " club fisted " person installed the wrong one ?
There was 2 key that came with the ebay kit and no instructions as which one to use and install i put the wrong one in i guess. They both looked the same. While i was cleaning the top of the cylinder head i did turn the flywheel the wrong direction or way and felt something like the key sliding under the impeller. I going stick the brass key them things are people like me who feel better with a brass key. It is all good I am asking Jesus the son of God for help and if was not for him i would have not got near this far.

Took for a test ride works. the idle is tricky got wait for it to slow down a little to shift into froward nice and easy. It is working ok for $200.00 engine. Now will do a check on the nuts and bolts carter pen and everything else and make sure it is tighten up and go for a longer ride in the water.

The engine runs good when i am going 2 mph or 30 mph slow or fast has no problem running. But when i idle you know in neutral slow enough to shift into froward it can stall so i kind of got to not idle to long or it will go stall. it ok like this because i am aware of it. Anyone know what it might be.

I got her fixed for what i wanted the idle and things. The spark advance was loose So popped the (hat) fly wheel and tighten down on things. Now much better. The engine does about 25+ knots. I just needed to sleep on it some.

Yep , a fair few seem hell bent on pricing themselves out of the market .
Now days with the interweb is easy for peeps to download pdf parts manuals and find parts on line for a fraction of what some dealers charge .
I see a few comments from US guys that some dealers are gettin real snobby and wont even look at anything slightly old ,this is where the downward spiral started as average peeps had to find some other way to get stuff fixed....and they did . Im doing ok out of it 😁

If you are happy with the sound of that motor , then all is well I guess.
That was a very low idle in that last video after i gave the engine a run of about 20 miles. When i got back i notice it still run idle with hardly any gas and idle at a lower rpm. All and All it idle right at start not having to wait for a warm up. Idle so that when i go into froward there in no issue because I am not having it idle up to a higher rpm to worry about a stall. I retired and got watch my money. The shops from what i understand charge allot never tried but the rumor about their cost has sent me away not than they might have been a time saver and got my engine running long ago at a fair price like they usually do with my car when i took it to them years ago. I am a grease monkey and days most parts for this old engine are not in the shops so i order them from ebay or a canada or USA. Which sometimes the part shops know the part they are selling and sometimes ebay has no clue. I have ordered at the MarineEngine.com because they had the part i need and i know they where correct. i waste lot of money trying to repair a old 70 hp outboard about a year ago threw some money in the water there. But i just work my jobs and made minimum wage all my life mostly. When i go into a shop and they do not care about me wanting to save a cent or want be rude to me i am taking my business to online when i got to get a expensive part and when working on any job that was the rule if you ever caught being rude to anyone you are walking. Anyway the last 40 years i believe having to pay $9.00 for a knife is over because i can get practically the same knife for $1.00 everyone should understand that. I understand the stores around here only want deal with people who make over $100.000 a year. But there still are probably a lot of good shops who may be fair. not sure because i do use them i am a grease monkey and like to do things my self. But i think the union way of people thinking that they are against me for repairing things is not correct.
