re: cracked exhaust bellows, port side
898 engine, V8, fresh water lake
Hello, while winterizing my engine I notice that my bellows between the riser and y-tube is cracking and will need replacement.

It appears, If i remove the riser unit, the bellows should slip off?

:welcome: to iboats

I believe your talking about the exhaust boots. The boots go between the riser, elbow and Y-pipe. Yes if you remove the riser (or elbow if you have one) it will come off. Most exhaust tubes/boots can be a bit stubborn to get off, need to get something under them. Putting them back on use liquid soap and makes it easier.

This needs to be in the mercruiser section for best results

Use can use a blade to cut the rubber boot on the top edge, just be careful. Then take the riser off the top of boot. Bottom should be easier too get some soapy water in there and wiggle it off.

Ayuh,.... Or get yerself a "Hose Pick", it's like a bent ice pick, a rather handy tool for removin' all sorts of hoses,...
