Hello all -

I picked up an 82 Nordic 660 that probably would have been better off in the landfill and I'm not sure the boat really ever existed as there's very little info out there. The HIN starts with NOR so I know it was built buy Nordic boats in Little Falls, MN but that's the extent of what I have found online. Anyone have any history of Nordic boats From the early 80's?

The boat was free with a trailer and I knew going into this that it needed a complete rebuild. I'm a sailor at heart, have restored several sailboats in the past and build cedar strip canoes in my spare time, so I'm not worried about the work involved, but this is my first power boat.

I'll have some pictures and questions in the next post.

Here's how it looked when I brought it home. I could tell there was a lot of extra weight from the wet wood and foam by the way the trailer wheel is sitting, almost looks like the axle is bent but it isn't.

While doing some exploratory coring of the stringers, they are 6" wide and completely glassed over so I knew they weren't just wooden stringers, I found them to be constructed of a foam block with a 3/4" plywood top, then glassed over. The plywood is completely wet along with the top inch or so of the foam, the foam along the hull is surprisingly dry.

Here's my plan for the 2 stringers unless someone has a better idea. Cut off the top layer of fiberglass leaving the sides, remove the plywood top and foam, then build back up with the blue foam from Menards, put a plywood top back on, and glass over the entire thing. Sound like a good plan?

Your plan will work just make sure when you put the stinger tops back on you sand the sides really well and then use a minimum of 4 layers of 1708 or 1808 fabric to get the stength you'll need.
