I need to order some solid rivets for the v220 mariner! Who has the experience of what i should order and where to get them...also the most effective tool to use to hammer them in place?

Dad had a 79 21 mariner when i was a kid, now at 60 years old I have an 82 18 footer

Also, I didn't buck i would not have had help so I just used lots of 5300 with my approx 375 closed end rivets.

Check out Aircraft Tool Supply(ATS) and some of their 4x rivet guns. I've been happy with mine. Tried it with the air hammer, which was fine for a couple of solids, but if you're going to be setting more than just a few, it's well worth the investment.

Watermann has a excellent sticky at the top of the forum on everything rivets if you haven't read through it already: https://forums.iboats.com/threads/rivets-rivets-and-more-rivets-repaired.741809/

Hi..will do that..I just ordered or am set to order some solid rivets...reading the recommended rivets to use on my 1983 v220 supermariner..I think that's what it is.lol...from reading prior post I am double checking from those that have done it..my selection of rivets so far is 3/16 brazier head rivets in 1/2 inch long 7/16 and 9/16..maybe I should get 3/8 long? Main question is the softness..guy is trying to tell me I want 1100 soft cute aluminum..I remembered reading an alloy suggested hardness one..is anybody can come back and tell me which one..or give me a shopping list

1100F which is pure soft aluminum and 2117T4 which is a strong alloy. The hull AL material is 5052 alloy. I would not recommend using 1100F pure soft AL on structural components such as the ribs.

WELL...I am ready to get said rivets set and now have just acquired a 21ft. Duckworth welded boat!! So beleive i am going to put my 1983 Starcraft V220 supermariner up for Sale..now I know that my boat is a very rare model and this one is in pretty good rebuildable shape..Transom is good ,no big amount of corrosion..I stripped out all foam, inspected everything and it appears that just rivets that we're sandwiched between boat and trailer bunks heads were flaky...those rivets are tight just heads compromised...drilled a few out..pretty easy project ..So saying all that what would be a decent price to put on that boat to sell? Thanks Crabeye

Location can greatly influence the going price someone is willing to pay. Not much value provided in the actual hull itself, people look more at the overall package value with trailer and motor. The dual axle galvanized trailer will help the value. Not quite sure what you have hanging off the back for power from the original pictures. Obviously, a complete boat is going to bring a better price than a project boat. I'd love me a big V220, but I'd need to find another place to live after my wife kicked me out if I drug one home...
