Hi- I have a 1982 DT 85, the engine runs fine on the muffs and will rev freely. Tried it in the water and it trolled very slowly and would not change throughout the throttle range up to WOT.
Looked at the threads posted on the forum, decided the best course of action was to take it for a service and have them clean the carbs.
The engineer who did the service advised that there is good compression on all cylinders, he belived that the problem was that there is loss of suction on pots 2&3 for fuel intake. He has recommended that the engine be stripped and the seals changed on the crank case.
Befor I have this done is there any way to verify this? ie put hand over carb port check for suction? Spray mix direct into carb?
ANy help would be good, not much of a mechanic, however have the manual and willing to get stuck in.
