1983 15hp Evinrude speed

brother has a 20hp Merc that has been a PITA to use. Always hard start and multiple issues. I found a 1983 J15ecrm elec start evinrude and I have always been a Jonny/rude guy. He is worried that it will be a dog on the 14' blufin fisherman we have. Will we notice a big difference?

Take a compression tester with you and check it out before you buy it. Same with an open air spark tester. Walk away if the compression test fails. Look for 110-120 and even. Take both plugs out for either test. For compression, pull it over until the needle stops showing an increase.
