rebuilt this myself in 1992 with
no trouble til threw a pistin ring or two middle cyl. port side.
Previously asked if case needed to be split to replace above and got quick response.
Were on our way here to disassemble and
first real problem: six long hex heads bolts (3 port & 3 starbourd) which retain power head are substantially corroded at the hex; got some out with heat and various "tricks" anyone know something I don't on this issue? Have burning torch but very cautious here. Looking for magic, which I find in short supply. JJ

A burning torch, if you're speaking of an aceleyne torch, is a no no. That thing will melt alumium quite quickly. A propane torch is as hot as you would want to use.

When I run into bolts in that condition, I find that a propane torch and metric sockets do the trick.

Hi, used up all of those options and got three out. Other three have little head left from extensive corrosion. Used much care with an acetylene torch with small tip to melt out center of bolt head at diameter of shaft. Also being careful not to melt washer. Aluminum will dissipate a lot of heat. Flame tip must be tiny and held carefully on steel not Al. Used a chisel to chip off blobs. Have knocked the head off two this way with no damage to Al. One to go. This is not work for an amateur though and probably shouldn't be spread around. Thanks for the response. JJ

I'd make sure the ports have been properly chamfered in all cylinders.
This is "usually" what busts a ring after an O/H.
DH or Joe will correct me if that's not a concern.
