1983 25 hp Rude no spark?

Engine was running fine then just quit, like I had pressed the stop button. No sputter, just stopped.

I think it is an ignition problem. Any ideas on where to start looking? ALl wires were connectec.

Do you know the history of this motor or did you just buy it?

I would check the spark. Buy a spark tester for $6-7 at an auto parts store.

It has been my motor since new. Thanks for the tip.

Unplug the stop switch at the motor and try starting. They do occasionally fail/short.
