I would appreciate information on how to separate the lower section of this Evinrude to replace the water pump.I know I should have orderd a repair manual long ago , but this is my first trouble with this engine. Thanks----------------Ron
I think on your particular motor the shift linkage disc onnection is behind the water intake screens. Pull the screens off and unscrew the 2 compression nuts. slide the top nut up and remove the nylon keeper.
I think Walker has given you the proper procedure. However, if your motor has the split lower housing then you need to remove the window in the exhaust tower above the lower unit. There you should see two slotted screws. Disconnected the lower one. Take out the bolts that secure the lower unit to the exhaust tower and pull the lower unit down. The water tube may give you some resistence.
You are correct. I have a 28SPL and 25, and they are set up the same way. Though, I apparently am no expert. See my other thread. I can't get water to circulate on my new 25hp (though I have done the same repair on my 28 w/out any problems).
