Hi,
I have a 35hp Johnson thats acting up on me. When starting the engine it starts normally but needs more throttle not to die on me. I have done a carb restauration and when it comes to the low speed circuit it is fully operational.
It starts to cough slightliy before dying on me, but works fine at WOT. BUT, when running and killing the engine the spark from both plugs dissapear fully when you try to restart it.
I have meassured the charge coil and it gives around 450ohm as stated in the manual, I have not been able to meassure the voltage output when pulling the cord though.
I came to the conclution that it probably was the CDI unit that had gone bad. But after changing that one the symptoms still exist. I have also done all other typical checks like corrosion on the ground, meassured the kill switch etc..
From my visual experience the spark when working seems a bit weak. So question is, could it be that the coil moves when engine gets hotter. Or could this be due to a bad coil or sensor?
Thankful for your input before I remove the flywheel and start ordering new parts.
