I am replacing the impeller on my 1983 50 hp mercury 4cyl. engine. When I pulled the lower unit there were 2 rubber tubes on top of impeller housing. My question is where do they go? They each have splines inside them 1 is tapered the other is not. Do they go on top of the gear shaft as a seal? If so which order? Thanks in advance for any help.
