1983 Johnson 2 stroke 50hp

50TELCTA

Ran fine one time this year, after that I have had a constant problem with some irregular ones.

I have no Tach hooked up but I am going to put my Flukes RPM jigger attachment on it.

I have a new 2020 Controler with new cables all perfectly aligned and adjusted.

THE ISSUE!
when cold I can turn it on and GO! and it will work. But shortly after if I go below half throttle it will not want to go higher than half throttle again I sit at the stalling threshold till it makes a clean sound and then I can pin it again, if I go below half I have to fight the stall at half throttle religiously.

erratic idle on muffs, and finally the other day I was full throttle from leaving the landing, wanted to get to the other side then just puts around and about a quarter into the trip it just died off, will not start ect.

new parts
Fuel pump
coils
wires
plugs
power pack
rectifier
primer bulb
fuel lines between carbs and choke
fuel lines and connectors from tank to motor
lines from pump to carb connections/Ts
cleaned an blew out every orifices on carbs
sync carbs
temp sensor is no existent
water from the tell tale
Cleaned up all wiring (every connection double checked and secured for any grounding issues)

I am at a Total loss.

compression is also 140 each and consistent
can place hand on top of head when it shut down on me.

going to check telltale temperature to see if water is cycling through head tomorrow.

I do not believe tell tale water goes through the engine at all !-----Take ohm readings on ignition components under the flywheel.----No need to remove the flywheel to do that.-----Rotate timer base / wiggle the wires while taking the readings.----Simple trouble shooting is easier on your wallet than throwing parts at it.

504ohm on the stator. From brown wire to black.

I cannot find a break down on how to do the ohm readings across the rest of the components

I however never did a jiggle test while looking for readings

Phone was dying last night so I just posted what was new, the reason for the new parts is listed below. Honestly thought I had it figured out.

my rectifyer was bad (readings both ways)
*[no residue leaking down from stator that is apparent or visible(debating taking the flywheel off to confirm )]
coils were down to 250ohm
plugs fouled to all hell
fuel pump diaphragm was weak
fuel lines had lots of cracks and possible air leaks
power pack was bad and could not turn off the motor
fuel system from tank was old and cracked all over
1 coil wire to plug was bad during jiggle testing

I felt like I was actually getting down to the root problem till I died all the way out on the lake that last time.

When jiggling wires I did not lose any readings, however when twisting and moving the flywheel the reading were VERY erratic, lowest dipped down to 300 for a moment but then they all would go back to 485 as soon as I stopped moving it. At times during spinning the flywheel it would lose all connection but only for a moment as well.

what does that mean?

Also tried to fire it up, failed. Pulled the plugs and they were SOAKED in gas.

Pulled every single thing apart and redid all connections and changed back to previous power pack and got it to fire

decided to check if it was the new power pack that caused the problem.so I reinstalled with the killswitch wire unplugged, fired right up plugged it in and it kept going just fine.

turns out it was not the power pack, took apart the rubber connectors and made sure none of the connectors slipped inside the rubber connectors making for a poor connection/no connections and it all checked out fine.

checked the cylinders for a leaking head gasket or water intrusion and found none.

so I'm back to an erratic idle, but steady, seemed to all of a sudden miss a step more or less. Even under throttle it seems to miss a single step or fire cycle once and awhile.
